England captain Alastair Cook: 'I could be more imaginative'

England captain Alastair Cook says that he could be more "imaginative" following criticism from former Australia bowler Shane Warne.

England captain Alastair Cook has responded to Shane Warne's criticism by describing his views as "old news", but has admitted that he could be more "imaginative".

The former Australian bowler described the Ashes-winning skipper as 'negative and boring' ahead of the return series Down Under.

"It doesn't seem times have changed at all does it," Cook said in a press conference. "Look it's old news I think it's pretty much exactly what was said in the summer.

"I am not getting into the nitty gritty of my captaincy, I'm not sure really that's what this is about.

"At times I've always said I'm trying to learn on the job from experience and there will be times where I could be slightly more imaginative and think slightly differently if the situation arises."

England will take on Australia in the first Ashes Test, which gets underway in Brisbane on November 21.
