Rejuvenated England paceman Steven Finn has claimed that he now looks back on what has been a "tough" last 12 months as a "worthwhile experience".
The 25-year-old was sent home from last year's tour of Australia and branded "unselectable" by then limited-overs coach Ashley Giles as he struggled to remodel his action.
His county form for Middlesex last season earned him an international recall, and Finn feels that he has emerged from the educational setback a better bowler ahead of the one-day series against Sri Lanka.
"It's been tricky, but I suppose an encouraging end to the last year," Finn told reporters.
"There were some tough times in there, but everyone goes through tough times in their career. The most important thing now is that I don't dwell on the past and look forward to the future.
"I've been through it. I've experienced things that I wish maybe I didn't experience at the beginning of my career. But it happens. You certainly learn more about your game when you're low. When you're high, you ride the crest of a wave. It's been a very worthwhile experience."
Finn, who has played 42 ODIs and 23 Tests for England since making his international debut in 2010, took two wickets in the warm-up victory over Sri Lanka A on Friday.
