England's spin-bowler Graeme Swann has issued his thanks to surgeon Shawn O'Driscoll for saving his cricket career.

The 34-year-old visited O'Driscoll in Minnesota earlier this year in a bid to correct an elbow injury that had been troubling him for some time.

He made his return during the recent Test series against New Zealand and became the first spinner to take 10 wickets at Headingley since 1972 during the 247-run victory over the Kiwis this afternoon.

"The elbow feels great. I'm very thankful to the surgeon Shawn O'Driscoll - he probably saved my career, good man," Swann told Sky Sports News.

Swann has become a key member of the England Test side since his debut back in 2008.
