ICC delay World Twenty20 squad announcements by six days

The ICC announce that the Saturday deadline for teams to announce their squads for the World Twenty20 tournament has been put back until August 24.

The International Cricket Council have announced that teams have been given extra time to announce their squads for the World Twenty20 tournament.

The deadline was originally scheduled for Saturday, which drew a lot of attention to England and batsman Kevin Pietersen, who has been dropped from the third and final Test against South Africa, which begins today.

A statement from the ICC said: "The International Cricket Council today confirmed, after receiving requests from several of its members, that it has extended the deadline by six days for the men's teams to submit its 15-player squads for the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012.

"All participating men's teams must have its 15-player squads to the ICC no later than Friday August 24, 2012."

Meanwhile, Australia have already announced their squad that will play Sri Lanka for the T20 tournament.
