Monty Panesar takes two wickets as England restrict India to 87-3 at lunch on day one of the second Test match in Mumbai.

India have reached lunch on 87-3 on day one of the second Test match against England in Mumbai.

Jimmy Anderson struck with his second ball of the innings to remove Gautam Gambhir while two wickets from Monty Panesar ensured that England shared the spoils in the opening session.

With more assistance predicted for the spin bowlers as the match goes on, it was an important toss to win, which India won and instantly made the decision to bat first.

However, England secured a big scalp with just the second ball of the day when Anderson trapped Gambhir in front of his stumps.

India regained their composure soon after and Virender Sehwag and Cheteshwar Pujara put on a lively 48 before Sehwag, playing in his 100th Test match, was bowled for 30 by Panesar.

That brought home favourite Sachin Tendulkar to the crease but he had made just eight runs when Panesar found some turn to clip Tendulkar's off-stump and reduce India to 60-3.

Virat Kohli and Pujara put on 27 runs to remain at the crease but England will be content ahead of an important afternoon session.
