Sam Billings hits 50 as England cruise to Twenty20 win over Pakistan

Sam Billings and James Vince impress for a much-changed England side as the tourists win the first T20 against Pakistan by 14 runs in Dubai.

A half-century by Sam Billings has helped England to a 14-run win over Pakistan in Dubai and a 1-0 lead in the three-match Twenty20 series.

The 24-year-old clobbered a 24-ball fifty, while James Vince stroked 41 from 36 deliveries on debut after the pair were called into the side for the rested Joe Root and Jos Buttler respectively.

Billings's and Vince's innings, coupled with an unbeaten 45 from skipper Eoin Morgan, saw England post 160-5, while Pakistan, who slipped to 42-4 and 75-7, could only muster 146 all out due largely to Liam Plunkett (3-21) and Reece Topley (3-24).

England, who won the one-day series 3-1 after losing the Tests 2-0, have now won four successive T20 internationals, and their build-up to the World T20 in India in March continues on Friday at the same ground.
