Alastair Cook's side had to settle for a draw despite Jonathan Trott's brilliant century before retiring.

After declaring on 254-6, the tourists made early inroads to leave Haryana struggling on 133-6.

The wickets were shared around the attack but Tim Bresnan was the standout performer and he improved his chances of place in the Test side with figures of 2-13 from seven overs.

However, Haryana were able to hold on to frustrate England and secure a draw ahead of this week's first Test in Ahmedabad.
