England make inroads on day one

Australia are 107-3 on at lunch on day one of the third Ashes Test match against England in Perth.

England have taken three wickets on the first morning of the third Ashes Test match in Perth.

Australia, who lead the series 2-0, will resume after lunch on 107-3 with David Warner (49*) and Steve Smith (0*) at the crease.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, but they were soon on the back foot when a moment of hesitation from Chris Rogers (11) gave James Anderson the chance to run him out in the third over.

Shane Watson (18) was the next to go after edging Stuart Broad to Graeme Swann to leave the Aussies 52-2.

Warner and Clarke (24) put on a 54-run partnership to get past 100, but the skipper was caught by Alastair Cook at short mid-wicket when trying to take on Swann.

It was a massive boost for the tourists, who may well feel that they had the better of the morning session.
