Kumar Sangakkara, Kaushal Silva frustrate England

Kumar Sangakkara and Kaushal Silva reach lunch unbeaten to frustrate England as they look to seal victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's.

Kumar Sangakkara and Kaushal Silva have been resilient at the crease as Sri Lanka reached 99-1 at lunch on the final day of their first Test against England this morning.

Alastair Cook made his declaration before the start of play, setting the tourists a target of 390 for victory on day five at Lord's.

The home side made an early breakthrough when Dimuth Karunaratne edged a Stuart Broad delivery to Sam Robson to leave Sri Lanka 25-1.

Moeen Ali came close to dismissing Sangakkara in the penultimate over before the interval, but Ian Bell could not take the catch.

Silva finished the session unbeaten on 44, while Sangakkara will resume on 34 in the afternoon session.
