Essex have outlined their desire to play a handful of Twenty20 matches at the Olympic Stadium in the coming seasons.
Premier League side West Ham United will make the 60,000-capacity venue their new home from next season and are reportedly "very up" for the prospect of hosting cricket matches in the summer months.
Essex chairman John Faragher said that the aim was to stage one game at the Olympic Stadium in summer 2017 followed by a couple more in 2018.
"We've got a very good relationship with Newham Council and we've had lots of positive discussions," he told the Daily Mail. "There are a lot of things we need to sort out but it's a very strong possibility we will play there. The potential is enormous.
"We will obviously have to work around the football season but West Ham are very up for this and I'm excited at the prospect.
"Our groundsman has been down there and we would bring in drop-in pitches to make this work. If you approach something with the right mindset you can make it happen."
Essex currently play short-form matches at the ECG in Chelmsford, which has a capacity of 6,000.
