Gareth Berg has agreed to join County Championship side Hampshire.
The 34-year-old was a free agent following his release by Middlesex at the end of last season.
Having recovered from a serious shoulder injury, the all-rounder has insisted that a move to the Ageas Bowl has provided him with a "fresh start".
"This a great fresh start for me and hopefully I can perform well for Hampshire in the season ahead," he told the club's official website.
"As a sportsman you've got to work against the odds and my body is probably in the best condition that it's been in three years."
South Africa-born Berg hit over 4,000 runs and took 221 wickets during his seven years as a Middlesex player.
