Former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns has been awarded £90,000 in damages after winning his libel case against the ex-chairman of the Indian Premier League Lalit Modi.
The 41-year-old was removed from the IPL auction list in 2010 by Modi, who claimed on Twitter that the New Zealand native was involved in match-fixing.
Cairns issued a writ in London's High Court in January of that year and following the legal battle it has emerged in court today that the former Nottinghamshire player was successful in his claims.
Cairns had his contract with the Chandigarh Lions ripped up in 2008 by the Indian Cricket League for failing to mention an ankle injury.
