Leicestershire shake up coaching staff

Leicestershire make changes to their coaching setup as they look climb from the foot of the County Championship next season.

Leicestershire have changed their coaching staff in an effort to improve the county's fortunes next season.

After finishing bottom of Division Two with a record lowest points tally, the reorganisation see Phil Whitticase become director of cricket while Ben Smith is promoted to senior coach looking after first team affairs.

Whitticase told ESPN that the club needed to "realign" due to the level of responsibility placed of his shoulders in order to "have a clear focus to the requirements of the team".

In addition to finishing 70 points behind second-from-bottom Glamorgan, they also fell to a shock defeat against Leeds-Bradford MCCU during the 2013 season.
