Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has said that teammate Shaun Tait has been "phenomenal" during this season's Friends Life t20.

The Australian seamer took a hat-trick in his side's quarter-final victory over Nottinghamshire on Thursday evening to take his tally of wickets in the competition to 16.

Ten Doeschate, who posted a knock of 82 from just 44 balls against Notts, believes that Tait deserves great praise for his performances.

"Facing someone bowling 140 [kilometres per hour] in the closing overs is hard enough for batsmen, never mind the tail," Ten Doeschate told BBC Essex.

"In seven out of 10 T20 matches this season he has just been phenomenal."

Essex will face Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the semi-finals.
