Unbeaten centuries from AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla have moved South Africa to 340-3 at stumps on the opening day of the first Test against West Indies at Centurion.
The Proteas struggled during the morning session as they lost three key wickets before heading into lunch on 102-3.
However, De Villers and Amla both notched up their half-centuries in the afternoon to frustrate the Windies bowling attack and push the hosts onto 225-3.
The pair both moved beyond the 100-run mark before the close of play, finishing on 141 not out and 133 not out respectively as South Africa put a competitive score on the board.
De Villiers hit 15 fours and two sixes during his time at the crease, while Amla recorded 17 fours.
