England's Joanna Rowsell wins a seventh gold medal for her nation at the Commonwealth Games after defeating Annette Edmondson in the 3,000m individual pursuit final.

Joanna Rowsell has won England's seventh gold medal at the Commonwealth Games by beating Annette Edmondson in the final of the women's 3,000m individual pursuit.

The Olympic gold medallist added a Commonwealth title to her list of honours by finishing 3.835s quicker than her Australian counterpart at the Chris Hoy Velodrome.

The triumph marks Team England's seventh gold after just two days of the Glasgow-based competition thus far, and 19th medal overall.

Consequently, Edmondson picks up the silver, while compatriot Amy Cure wins the bronze to take Australia level with England in the medals table.
