Great Britain have won the gold medal in the men's team sprint final by beating France in a world record time.
The trio of Phillip Hines, Jason Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy raced round the track in a time of 42.6s, 0.747s faster than the world record that they set earlier this evening.
Hines began for Team GB, winning the first lap by just 0.005s, a lead that was extended to 0.275s by the end of Kenny's lap. Hoy finished off by extending GB's lead even further to claim yet another medal.
The medal is Hoy's fifth Olympic gold, drawing him level with Sir Steve Redgrave as the British athlete with most golds, while his sixth medal puts him just one medal behind fellow cyclist Bradley Wiggins.
In the bronze medal race, Germany narrowly beat Australia to accompany the gold that their women won earlier this evening.
