Tour de France 2015 to start in Netherlands

The 2015 Tour de France will start in Utrecht, Netherlands, and contains only one time trial stage.

The opening stage of the 2015 Tour de France in the Netherlands will be the only time trial stage of next year's event.

The course for the 102nd edition of cycling's showpiece road race was unveiled on Wednesday and includes just 14 kilometres of individual time trialling.

That comes in the first ride, around Utrecht in Holland, which succeeds Leeds, England, as the host of the first stage.

The route may not be welcomed by Britain's 2013 winner Chris Froome, whose chances of a second Tour title will be hindered by the lack of time trialling.

Instead, the yellow jersey is likely to be decided in the mountains, including the penultimate stage at Alpe d'Huez.
