Chris Froome maintains Tour de France lead after stage 13

Chris Froome remains leader of the Tour de France after finishing sixth in stage 13, which was won by Belgium's Greg van Avermaet.

Chris Froome has finished sixth in stage 13 of the Tour de France to maintain his overall lead, with Greg van Avermaet beating Peter Sagan in a sprint finish.

Team Sky's Froome remains two minutes and 52 seconds in front of second-placed Tejay van Garderen, who finished 10th in the same time as the Briton.

The 198.5km leg from Muret to Rodez was won by Belgian Van Avermaet, who pipped Slovakia's Sagan to the line.

Thomas de Gendt, Wilco Kelderman and Cyril Gautier had led a breakaway, but were caught with 200 metres left.

Stage 14 will take place tomorrow, with the Tour cycling 178.5km from Rodez to Mende.
