Two-time world champion Adrian Lewis has claimed that his 5-4 quarter-final defeat to Michael van Gerwen in the PDC World Championship was the best televised darts match of all time.

Lewis and Van Gerwen, who averaged 100.8 and 103.72 respectively, produced 26 180s between them in Saturday night's entertaining encounter, which saw the Dutchman edge through at Alexandra Palace.

"It was probably the best game you'll ever see on television," Lewis told Sky Sports News. "That was better than Taylor vs. Van Barneveld [in 2007], without a shadow of a doubt."

Lewis is currently second in this year's PDC order of merit.
