Scott Waites has progressed through to the quarter-finals of the BDO World Championship after producing a stunning comeback to beat Geert De Vos.
Waites found himself three sets down as De Vos impressed on his doubles, which included a checkout of 129, but the 2013 winner found a way back into the contest at three sets apiece, and after hitting a 158 finish, he took the next leg in 14 darts to complete a remarkable win.
Earlier in the day, defending champion Scott Mitchell survived eight match darts before going the distance to beat Mark McGeeney.
In a back-and-forth contest, McGeeney squandered several openings to get over the line before Mitchell finished strongly to take the match 4-3, with the final set lasting 11 legs.
He will now play Richard Veenstra after the Dutch thrower made light work of Martin Atkins.
