Call of Duty eSport matches will be played on PlayStation 4 after the next instalment Black Ops 3 has launched.
Competitive CoD matches have been exclusive to Xbox hardware since the release of 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops, according to Charlie INTEL.
The move comes as little surprise after Sony entered an exclusivity agreement with publisher Activision to bring CoD downloadable content to PS4 first.
The 2016 Call of Duty Championships, one of the biggest events on the eSport calendar, is expected to be the next competitive CoD event to use PlayStation hardware.
Black Ops 3 will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 6.
