AC Milan have confirmed that Sinisa Mihajlovic has been relieved of his duties as head coach less than 12 months after he was appointed to the position.
The 47-year-old has ultimately paid the price for a run of five matches without a victory, which has left the Rossoneri sixth in Serie A.
"The club would like to thank Mihajlovic for the dedication and hard work carried out this season," read a statement on the club's official website.
In a swift turnaround, Milan have added that Cristian Brocchi will take charge of the first team for the remainder of the season.
The 40-year-old, who made over 100 appearances for Milan during his playing career, has recently coached the club's reserve side.
