Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini blames Arsenal's Robin Van Persie for the altercation between the Arsenal skipper and Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has insisted that Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie was to blame for the flare-up with Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Van Persie and Krul came head to head following Arsenal's winner during the tie on Monday, and Coloccini has placed the blame on Van Persie.

"They were speaking in Dutch and not in a friendly way. Krul is a calm person and if he reacted negatively then, for me, it would have been because Van Persie was in the wrong. Van Persie's reaction after the second goal was against fair play," Coloccini told The Mirror.

Krul and Van Persie are both expected to be part of the Netherlands squad that travels to Euro 2012 this summer.
