Arsenal are in discussions with a number of Championship clubs over a loan move for William Saliba, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly holding discussions with a number of Championship clubs over William Saliba.

The 19-year-old officially linked up with the Gunners over the summer after spending the 2019-20 campaign on loan with Saint-Etienne, and it had initially been thought that he would be involved this season.

Saliba is not in the immediate first-team plans of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, though, and has been left out of the team's Europa League group-stage squad.

According to Goal, the Gunners are keen for the central defender to receive regular football this term and are in talks with clubs in the Championship after a proposed return to Saint-Etienne fell through.

The report claims that there are 'several interested parties' in the second tier of English football, with Brentford thought to be keen to secure his signature ahead of the closing of the EFL window on October 16.

Saliba has a contract at the Emirates Stadium until June 2024.
