Arsenal's proposed move for Thomas Partey is reportedly off after reaching an impasse with Atletico Madrid over the midfielder's valuation.
The Gunners first made contact with the Ghana international at the turn of the year and had been hopeful of making him their marquee summer signing.
However, they have been unable to reach a breakthrough in talks with Atletico and, according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Moretto, a deal is now unlikely.
Arsenal are said to have been informed by Atleti that they would have to trigger the 27-year-old's £45m release clause, on top of paying the player's £200,000-a-week wages.
Mikel Arteta's side are now expected to look elsewhere for a new central midfielder, with Roma's Amadou Diawara a possible alternative.
Partey has spent five seasons with Atletico, making just short of 200 appearances for the club.
