Liverpool and Bayern Munich are reportedly the latest clubs to express a concrete interest in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich have both reportedly identified Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria as a potential signing for 2022.

Having been with the Bundesliga outfit since 2017, Zakaria has no intention of penning a new contract, leaving him free to leave at some point in 2022.

While the 25-year-old could depart at the end of the campaign, Monchengladbach may prefer to cash in on the Switzerland international in January.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Bayern are both monitoring the situation in what is described as "an open race" for his signature.

As it stands, a pre-contract agreement appears more likely than Zakaria moving to either club for a cut-price fee next month.

Earlier this week, Arsenal, Everton and Leicester City were also suggested as potential destinations for the player.
