Real Madrid are reportedly hoping to hijack Arsenal's bid to sign Luis Suarez by making a £40m for the wantaway Liverpool forward.

Real Madrid are poised to beat Arsenal to the signing of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez with a £40m bid, according to a report.

The Uruguayan international has stated that his agent is aware of which club he would prefer to move to after he revealed that he wanted to leave the Reds.

Madrid are expected to hijack the Gunners' move for the 26-year-old with a £40m bid, which Brendan Rodgers's side may find too tempting to reject, reports The Sun.

Suarez scored 22 goals in the Premier League last season, but his campaign ended on a sour note after he bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and was banned for 10 games.
