Monaco announce the signing of Switzerland midfielder Denis Zakaria from Juventus on a five-year contract for a €20m (£17.2m) fee.

Monaco have announced the signing of Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria from Juventus on a permanent deal.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach man - who spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Chelsea - has penned a five-year contract with Les Monegasques until the summer of 2028.

Juventus have received a €20m (£17.2m) fee for Zakaria, who flattered to deceive at the Allianz Stadium since joining for just €10.1m (£8.7m) in January 2022.

Zakaria leaves Juve having made just 15 appearances for the Italian giants across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up one more for Massimiliano Allegri's side.

The 26-year-old was also a bit-part player during his loan spell with Chelsea last term, finding the back of the net once in 11 appearances, and the Blues decided against making his move permanent.

West Ham United were thought to have been interested in a deal for Zakaria this summer following Declan Rice's move to Arsenal, but the Irons moved for Edson Alvarez from Ajax instead.

Zakaria follows Mohammed Salisu and Philipp Kohn to Monaco for the 2023-24 season and could make his debut in Sunday's Ligue 1 clash with Strasbourg.
