Gabriel Agbonlahor backs misfiring Christian Benteke

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor backs teammate Christian Benteke to rediscover his goalscoring form.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed teammate Christian Benteke to hit the goal trail once more.

The Belgium striker scored 19 goals in 34 appearances for Villa last season, but has so far hit just four in 11.

"Christian is a quality player, he's a strong personality and the goals will come," Agbonlahor told the Birmingham Mail.

"It's down to us as a team to keep creating the chances for him. That's our job as well.

"After last season there's going to be a lot of expectation on him. He's still doing well in training, he's working hard, so the goals will come."

Agbonlahor himself is yet to score this season.
