Ernesto Valverde: 'We will improve'

Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde insists that his team will "regroup" following a poor start to the 2014-15 season.

Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde has insisted that his side's form will improve in the coming weeks following a disastrous start to the season.

The Spanish outfit have taken just one point from their two Champions League group matches thus far, while a total of four points from seven La Liga games has left them in the relegation zone in their domestic league.

However, Valverde has said that the Basque side will recover from their recent troubles, the latest of which occurred on Sunday when they were thumped 5-0 by Real Madrid in the league.

"Madrid were far superior to us and I admit that," Valverde told AS.

"You could see the difference between the teams. But we will come back. The squad is convinced that we will move forward. It's a difficult time at the moment.

"We can regroup. That is what has made us strong."

Bilbao finished fourth in La Liga last season.
