Barcelona have revealed that Sergino Dest is set for a spell on the sidelines with the hamstring injury that he picked up in the clash with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
The 21-year-old had to be withdrawn at the interval of his team's 1-0 defeat to Rayo last time out, with Clement Lenglet entering the field as the American's replacement.
Dest has struggled with a number of injury issues this season, and the right-back is now facing a battle to return before the end of the campaign, having damaged his hamstring at the weekend.
"Tests carried out on the first team player Sergino Dest have confirmed that the player has injured the semitendinosus muscle in his right hamstring. The player is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return," read a statement on Barcelona's official website.
Dest has made 31 appearances at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing three assists in the process.
The United States international still has more than three years left to run on his contract at Camp Nou, but he continues to be linked with a move away from his La Liga club ahead of the summer market.
