Sergi Roberto to sign Barcelona extension

Barcelona confirm that midfielder Sergi Roberto is to sign a new three-year deal with the club.

Barcelona have announced that midfielder Sergi Roberto is to sign a contract extension with the club until 2019.

The 22-year-old's current deal at the Camp Nou is due to expire in 2016.

Roberto, who has been capped 12 times for Spain's Under-21s, made 21 appearances for Barca last season.

"FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Sergi Roberto to renew his contract, which expires on June 30, 2015, until June 30, 2019," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The release clause has been set at €30 million, which could rise to €40m. He will sign the new contract over the next few days."

Roberto has featured once for Barcelona during the current campaign.
