Sochaux guarantee their place in Ligue 1 next season with a final-day goalless draw against Bastia.

Sochaux have retained their Ligue 1 status by a single point thanks to a final-day draw against Bastia.

The visitors needed a positive result to be mathematically sure of survival but were pressed back in the early stages as Sloan Privat had a shot blocked from close range.

Jeremy Choplin also had a goal disallowed for the hosts, who controlled possession without turning their advantage into an opening goal.

Bastia goalkeeper Mickael Landreau was forced off through injury early in the second half, but Sochaux were unable to test substitute Landry Bonnefoi with any regularity.

The visitors had their best strike at goal midway through the second period as Sebastien Corchia fired a free kick from distance just over the crossbar.

Sochaux had scored in their last four consecutive matches but ultimately settled for a point in the closing stages as a goalless draw confirmed their top-flight status for next season.
