Owen Coyle backs Bolton midfielder Mark Davies to become England's new Paul Gascoigne.

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has backed midfielder Mark Davies to become England's new Paul Gascoigne.

The 23-year-old signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee in 2009.

"When Mark is at the top of his game, he drives forward and takes people on," Coyle said.

"The best example of that in an English midfielder was Gazza, who I used to love watching.

"Mark has a long way to go to get to that level but will be good enough to play for anyone in six months or a year's time. He has a huge career ahead."

Bolton are currently 17th in the Premier League with 19 points from 22 games.
