Bolton Wanderers interim manager Jimmy Phillips has revealed that the appointment of Dougie Freedman has yet to be finalised.
Crystal Palace had stated earlier on Tuesday that the 38-year-old had left his managerial position at the club to take over at the Reebok Stadium.
"As far we are aware there are still negotiations to be concluded between Bolton and Crystal Palace," said Phillips.
"Myself, Sammy Lee and Julian Darby will be preparing the team and then taking the team at Middlesbrough [on Saturday].
"That is as much as I know. Obviously things could change between now and the Middlesbrough game but that is what I was told."
Bolton drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home in the Championship on Tuesday.
