Dougie Freedman leaves Crystal Palace to take over as manager of Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers.

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Dougie Freedman has agreed to fill the managerial void at Bolton Wanderers.

The 38-year-old has been in talks with the Bolton board for the past 24 hours following Palace's decision to allow discussions to take place.

While there has been no word from Bolton on the matter, a statement on Palace's official website revealed that the Scot has decided to swap Selhurst Park for the Reebok Stadium.

"Crystal Palace Football Club can confirm that first-team manager Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton Wanderers," read the statement. "The board of the club would like to put on record their thanks to Dougie for all his efforts over the past couple of years and their disappointment over the events of the past few days.

"The search for a replacement starts immediately."

Freedman, who has replace Owen Coyle, has left the Eagles fourth in the Championship table. His new club currently sit 16th.
