Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka admits that he could leave the club in search of regular first-team football.

Granit Xhaka has revealed that he could leave Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder says that he wants to play regular first-team football next season in order to cement his place in the Switzerland national team for the 2014 World Cup finals.

"There are no guarantees in football," he told Express. "You cannot say if you are here for next season. I will most certainly be here for the next two games, and I'll take it from there.

"I must consider a couple of things. Of course, I have played a few games now, but when the new season begins and I don't play, my place in the national team is in danger.

"I want to make it to the 2014 World Cup with Switzerland, but I need to play in the club if I want to keep my place in the national team."

Xhaka joined Gladbach from Swiss club FC Basel last summer.
