Brentford are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven.
The Bees have been looking to bolster their attacking options for the majority of the summer, with Brennan Johnson regarded as one of their main targets.
However, after failing in their attempts to sign the Wales international, they seemingly turned their attention to Fiorentina's Nicolas Gonzalez.
The Bees allegedly submitted a £35m bid for the Argentine winger, but neither the club nor the player were willing to entertain Brentford's offer.
Despite failing to land a couple of their targets, the Bees have made a breakthrough in their search to sign a new attacker.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have submitted a club-record bid worth €40m (£34.2m) for PSV's Bakayoko.
The two clubs are believed to be closing in on an agreement, which includes add-ons and a sell-on clause for the Eredivisie side.
Should the deal go through, it would represent the third time that Brentford have broken their transfer record this summer after previously doing so in deals to sign Kevin Schade and Nathan Collins.
Bakayoko, who joined PSV from Anderlecht at the age of 16, has made 57 appearances for the senior side, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists.

The Belgium international has started all seven competitive games this season, including PSV's four Champions League qualifying matches.
While PSV are expected to re-sign Hirving Lozano from Napoli, they were keen to retain Bakayoko's services for their Champions League group-stage campaign.
However, he is now expected to complete a move to the English top flight, where he will join a Brentford side that have taken five points from their opening three Premier League games.
Thomas Frank is currently preparing his side for Saturday's clash with Bournemouth at the Brentford Community Stadium.
