Sam Vokes hoping to return before Christmas

Burnley's Sam Vokes is hoping to recover from a knee injury to play before the Christmas period.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes has revealed that he would like to return to action before Christmas.

The 24-year-old has been out of action since March, when he ruptured his cruciate ligament during a clash with Leicester City.

However, with his rehabilitation now well underway, the Wales international is hopeful that he can feature for the Clarets in and around the festive period.

"It's getting there. It's a long process. I was in this morning doing a bit of gym work. I'm nearly five months up now and I'd like to get a few more games in before Christmas," he told BT Sport.

Vokes joined Burnley from Wolverhampton Wanders back in 2012.
