Celtic are to expected to go up against Blackburn Rovers in a battle to sign striker Simon Cox.

Celtic have made an approach to West Bromwich Albion for striker Simon Cox, according to reports.

Sky Sports News understands that the Hoops want to sign the Republic of Ireland international to bolster their forward options.

Cox struggled to hold down a regular starting role at the Hawthorns last season and is considering his options.

Scottish champions Celtic face stiff competition for the 25-year-old's signature, with Blackburn Rovers understood to have already held talks with Cox's representatives.

Cox is expected to make a decision on his future in the next two weeks.
