Wednesday's EFL Cup predictions including Chelsea vs. AFC Wimbledon

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's EFL Cup fixtures, including Chelsea vs. AFC Wimbledon.

Harrogate vs. Blackburn (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

League Two outfit Harrogate Town welcome Championship side Blackburn Rovers to Wetherby Road in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.

The hosts claimed a 1-0 victory over Carlisle United in the first round, while the visitors came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller with Walsall.

We say: Harrogate Town 0-3 Blackburn Rovers

Given the gulf in quality between the Championship and League Two, we expect Blackburn to flex their muscles and claim a convincing victory over Harrogate.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Nott'm Forest vs. Burnley (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Following defeats for both sides at the weekend, Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Burnley meet at the City Ground in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Forest threw away a 2-0 lead against Manchester United to lose 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday, while Burnley suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

We say: Nottingham Forest 3-2 Burnley

Nottingham Forest and Burnley have played a combined total of five matches this season, with each clash producing at least three goals.

For that reason, we expect the two sides to serve up an entertaining encounter on Trentside, with Forest edging the contest thanks to their strong home record.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Sheff Utd vs. Lincoln (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sheffield United will be expecting to make it into the third round of the EFL Cup by beating Lincoln City on Wednesday.

The visitors surprisingly made it to the fourth round of this competition last season, and they defeated Notts County in the opening round this time around.

We say: Sheffield United 2-0 Lincoln City

With both managers likely to make plenty of alterations to their line-ups due to prioritising their league campaigns, the quality on display at Bramall Lane could be lacking at times on Wednesday evening.

However, with McBurnie and potential debutant Cameron Archer likely to combine in attack for the hosts, they should have enough about them to edge beyond their lower-ranked opponents.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Chelsea vs. AFC Wimbledon (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Chelsea begin their quest for EFL Cup glory when they welcome League Two outfit AFC Wimbledon to Stamford Bridge for Wednesday's second-round showdown.

While the Blues are entering the knockout tournament at the second stage, their visitors have already caused a major upset in the competition, eliminating Coventry City in round one.

We say: Chelsea 4-0 AFC Wimbledon

Wimbledon's impressive start to the League Two campaign must be respected, and the Dons should play without fear in West London, having already stunned the EFL landscape with their giant killing of Coventry City.

However, while Pochettino will undoubtedly field an inexperienced XI, the Blues' talented youngsters should still have too much for their fourth-tier counterparts, and the Argentine is blessed with an enviable list of reserve options should they be required.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Doncaster vs. Everton (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Doncaster Rovers will be aiming to stun higher-ranked opposition in the EFL Cup once again when they host Everton on Wednesday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have failed to win a trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 1995, but they may be focused on securing their survival in the Premier League.

We say: Doncaster Rovers 1-2 Everton

With both teams yet to win in the league this season, confidence could be at an extremely low ebb for both sets of players, but the visitors should have enough about them to avoid being on the wrong end of an upset.

Injuries have ravaged Dyche's squad and will limit his ability to rotate as much as he may have wanted, but they have plenty of attacking players desperate to prove themselves and should be able to grab a couple of goals against their lowly-ranked opponents.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.
