Gary Cahill: "John Terry will be a huge loss"

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill says that former club captain John Terry "will be a huge loss" for the Blues next season.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has said that former club captain John Terry "will be a huge loss" for the Blues next season.

Terry left Chelsea for Aston Villa this summer after spending 22 years at the club - making 717 appearances in all competitions, winning five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and one Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill has admitted that the Premier League champions will feel the absence of Terry during the 2017-18 campaign, but the England international is confident that he can use his own experience to help the younger generation.

"Obviously John Terry will be a huge loss for us but I feel I'm at an age where I can pass on my experience to the younger players," Cahill told reporters. "We have a lot of experienced players in the dressing room anyway, but I certainly feel I can help."

Cahill wore the Chelsea armband in the absence of Terry last season, but head coach Antonio Conte is yet to officially appoint a new captain for the 2017-18 season.
