Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea aren't scoring enough goals'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits that his side have not scored enough goals this season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that his side need to start scoring more goals if they are to be successful this season.

The Blues have yet to score more than twice in a match in all competitions this season, but despite failing to create many chances against Basel on Wednesday night, Mourinho has defended his team's style of play.

The 50-year-old told The Mirror: "I feel that we are going in one direction, which is the direction that we want to be to play a certain kind of football, but the reality is that we are not scoring goals.

"You can't say that we don't score goals because we're not an offensive team and don't play offensive football and don't have ball possession, because we have an attacking mentality.

"Probably, if we play a defensive game and we just go on the counter-attack, probably we go there and score two or three goals."

Chelsea's strikers - Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o - have scored just one goal between them in six matches.
