Late Cesc Fabregas goal gives Chelsea win over Ferencvaros

Chelsea come from a goal down to beat Ferencvaros 2-1 in a pre-season friendly.

Cesc Fabregas scored inside the final 10 minutes to give Chelsea a 2-1 win over Hungarian side Ferencvaros in a pre-season friendly this evening.

The visitors had the majority of the possession in the opening few minutes, but Willian and Didier Drogba were unable to link up to create an early goal-scoring opportunity for Chelsea.

Despite Chelsea's dominance in the opening stages, it was the home side that broke the deadlock when Michal Nalepa picked out Zoltan Gera with a cross, allowing the midfielder to slot the ball in from close range.

Andre Schurrle came close to getting the visitors back on level terms shortly before the break, but he curled his free kick just wide of the post.

Jose Mourinho made a host of changes at half time, but it was Oscar, who came on in the first half, who fired in the equaliser for Chelsea, rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box just over five minutes into the second half.

Branislav Ivanovic had a chance to head the visitors into the lead shortly after the hour mark, but he nodded the ball just over from a Fabregas delivery.

The defender came even closer a couple of minutes later when he thumped the ball onto the post from another Fabregas cross, but the hosts were able to clear the rebound.

Ferencvaros tried to catch Chelsea out on the break with Daniel Nagy pressing down the other end, but Nemanja Matic was on hand to make the clearance.

Chelsea began to push for a winner as the final 10 minutes approached, and they took the lead with nine minutes to spare as Fabregas rounded a couple of defenders before drilling the ball in low.

Fabregas and Diego Costa both had chances to extend Chelsea's lead further in stoppage time, but the former Barcelona man's 81st-minute effort proved enough to give Mourinho's side the victory.
