Chelsea defender Matt Miazga rejoins Vitesse on loan

Chelsea announce that defender Matt Miazga will spend a second season on loan at feeder club Vitesse.

Chelsea have announced that defender Matt Miazga will spend a second season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse during the 2017-18 campaign.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at the club too, making 29 appearances to help them to their first major trophy in the KNVB Beker.

Vitesse will now compete in next season's Europa League as a result, and Chelsea have sent the USA international back to their feeder club in order for him to gain more first-team experience.

Miazga joined Chelsea in 2016 but has only made two appearances for the club, both of which came towards the end of the 2015-16 season.

The centre-back has won three caps for the United States national side, though, and was part of the squad which won the Gold Cup this summer.
