Chelsea wide player Ian Maatsen has indicated that he would like to remain at Stamford Bridge for the 2023-24 season.
On Wednesday evening, the 21-year-old took his opportunity to impress head coach Mauricio Pochettino as he netted twice during a 5-0 victory over Wrexham.
Maatsen, selected as a winger rather than a full-back, ensured that Chelsea took control of the contest in the opening 45 minutes before he was replaced at half time.
Despite his outing in North Carolina, Maatsen's future in West London remains uncertain, with the Netherlands Under-21 international having less than 12 months remaining on his contract.
The former PSV Eindhoven youngster is back at Chelsea having played a starring role on loan at Championship winners Burnley, contributing four goals and six assists from 39 appearances for the Clarets.
Burnley, as well as West Ham United, have been credited with an interest in Maatsen, and permanent bids will be considered if it becomes apparent that he does not wish to sign a new contract or Pochettino indicates that he does not feature in his plans.

Nevertheless, speaking after his display against the League Two newcomers in the United States, Maatsen has acknowledged that he is focused on trying to earn a place in the senior ranks at Chelsea.
Maatsen told the Evening Standard: "I hope to come back here and show the fans and the manager what I am capable of.
"Of course, sometimes it is difficult but you try to do your best all the time, stay calm and not stress. Just think about football, ask a lot of questions about how to get better, how to improve yourself, ask your teammates and help them as well."
Chelsea are currently well stocked for options at left-back with Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Lewis Hall all in competition for one spot in a defensive four.
Hall is capable of featuring as a central midfielder when required, while Maatsen has experience of playing as a winger, as shown on Wednesday at a time when Chelsea are lacking experienced options in the final third.
Pochettino has revealed that he will take his time in evaluating which of his younger crop will retain a spot in his squad for the upcoming campaign.
