Manchester City and Chelsea may reportedly look to rival Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Munich wide player Alphonso Davies.

Manchester City and Chelsea have reportedly identified Bayern Munich wide player Alphonso Davies as a potential transfer target.

During his five-year stint at the Allianz Arena, Davies has established himself as one of the best left-sided players in world football.

A total of eight goals and 28 assists have come from his 163 appearances in all competitions, largely from a left-back or left wing-back role.

While injuries have sometimes restricted his game time, the 22-year-old has been an ever-present in the Bundesliga and Champions League under Thomas Tuchel during 2023-24.

However, with less than two years remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen whether the Canada international will extend his stay in the Bundesliga or take on a new challenge.

Real Madrid, who will be in the market for a new left-back in 2024, have been credited with an interest in Davies, aware that they could potentially acquire his services for a cut-price fee.

In an interview with 365 Scores, agent Nick Huoseh has acknowledged that Real Madrid are an option for Davies, also admitting that Premier League clubs may be monitoring the situation.

According to 90min, Man City and Chelsea are also watching to see if there are any developments with Davies's future.

From City's perspective, they are not short of options at left-back with Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake and Sergio Gomez all offering options in that position.

The same can be said of Chelsea who have Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen who are all capable of being deployed on that side of the Blues' defence.

Nevertheless, sales are possible if it meant being able to attract Davies to either the Etihad Stadium or Stamford Bridge, particularly when his versatility makes him an option for wing-back and as a winger.

Gomez may be considered for an exit by City having played just 360 minutes of Premier League football since his arrival in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, Cucurella has been strongly linked with a departure from Chelsea and Maatsen has less than a year remaining on his contract with the West Londoners.
