Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has insisted that he has not enquired about signing Jermain Defoe this month.
The Toronto hitman has found himself heavily linked with a winter move to Selhurst Park, with bookmakers also suspending betting on the move materialising.
However, Pardew, who worked with the 32-year-old striker at West Ham United, says that a reunion is not on the cards.
"Personally, no [I have not enquired about him] but I know Jermain from my West Ham days and I know what he can do," he told reporters.
"It will be interesting to see if he comes on the market and if he pitches in. He will probably have a couple of choices, I should think."
Defoe has also been linked with Queens Park Rangers, Hull City, Leicester City and Sunderland in the mid-season window thus far.
