Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara 'disappointed' in players

Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara says that some of his players did not put in enough effort against Kilmarnock.

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara has admitted that he is disappointed in his side following their 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock.

Killie ended the Terrors' six-game unbeaten run at Rugby Park, and McNamara believes that some of his players did not give 100% on the night.

"I'm disappointed in them, you have to handle expectations," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "If you want to be successful, these are the games you have to deal with it, when it's not your day, but you come off and your shirt is soaking with sweat.

"Tonight there were one or two who weren't in that category, which is unlike them. But credit to Kilmarnock, they were better than us.

"It took us half an hour to get going and you would think we were nearer the bottom of the league than the top with our distribution. They should be braver on the ball, especially at the back. Too many were off the game and off the pace."

United remain top of the Scottish Premiership despite the defeat, lying two points ahead of Hamilton Academical, who have a match in hand, in second.
